Jones cuts Douglas down to size
The Prince’s Foundation has completed a stunning project, built using Douglas fir timber that was cut to size by Scotland’s largest independent sawmiller, James Jones and Sons, at the company’s Kirrimuir factory. The Gordon Park pavilion, located in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, is an exemplar of the charity’s principles, which are to build in an environmentally sustainable way while making sure that the community in which the project is based is at the heart of the design process.
Graham Blyth, senior sales manager for James Jones and Sons, said:
“We were delighted to be involved in such a special project. The pavilion is a fantastic example of British timber being used for both its sustainability and its aesthetic quality.”
